Jacques Maritain's Philosophical Journey through Human Rights

Have a look at this great little video on the life and work of Jacques Maritain, one of the architects of the UN Declaration of Human Rights (1948).

Maritain had a profound insight into the value and nature of the natural law. At first, he was enthusiastic about the UN Declaration, but later wrote about his concern that there was little or no understanding of the natural law behind the drafting of the document and, on that account, his concern was that it would fail to achieve its objectives of uniting humanity.
