I hope you are enjoying the materials this week; it's important, as I keep saying, to always understand literature (both discrete pieces and entire genres) in historical and cultural context. I would expect, in an A+ paper on an analysis of medieval lit to include such insights (as you can see in the podcast, the author puts his evaluation of the Treatise on the Astrolabe into both a historical and cultural context).
For those of you thinking about writing about the medieval mystics, check out the other medievalist podcast on Margery Kemp. I don't think we will have time to get to it formally next week, but it is well worth listening to...and fascinating!
